Current Positions Available

Community Disability Support Worker (CDSW)

We have open job positions for a Community Disability Support Worker in the Olds, Bowden, Innisfail, Linden, Three Hills and Acme areas.


Qualifications: Previous work experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or knowledge in the field.


Areas of Responsibility:

  • To assist in educating the individual through reading, puzzles, pictures etc. as required
  • To assist the individual in and around their homes and communities in activities of their liking and to encourage pleasing behavior, attitudes and positive reinforcement
  • To participate in any and all behavioral monitoring, ISP's (Individual Service Plans), Incident Reports as required and requested
  • To assist in personal grooming, hygiene, nutrition and manners  as necessary
  • To encourage friendship and camaraderie through social activities such as dances and sports
  • To ensure risk is managed, maintained and mitigated for both the individual and the staff, and that changes are made to the activities that pose too high a risk
  • To assist in job matching and training if applicable
  • To help the individual reach their potential and optimal independence in their job placements
  • To provide moral support and inspiration for the individual


  

Training Requirements: We provide on the job training for the following courses: CPR/First Aid, Positive Behavior Supports, CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention), Trauma Informed Care, Abuse Prevention Response Protocol, FOIP, PPE, Boundaries, Safe Bathing and other disability specific training. Other Requirements

We require all staff members to complete a vulnerable sector check upon hiring. As well we require you to hold a current valid class 5 drivers license and carry 2 million in liability insurance. We also require you to provide a 5 year drivers abstract.

Residential Disability Support Worker (RDSW)

We have open job positions for a Residential Disability Support Worker in the Olds, Linden and Acme areas.


Qualifications: Previous work experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or knowledge in the field.


Areas of Responsibility:

  • This person is responsible to the Program Director, and Residential Team Leader. 
  • To teach life skills, recreational activities, general supervision, teaching acceptable and appropriate social skills at home and in the community
  • To participate in any and all behavioral monitoring, ISP's (Individual Service Plans), Incident Reports as required and requested
  • To assist in planning home and community activities with the individuals 
  • To assist in directing the individuals to the familiarity of accessing community programs and facilities such as: libraries, schools, museums, restaurants and police and fire departments
  • To assist in educating individuals in emergency awareness and procedures in the areas of fire safety, CPR/First Aid, home safety and street safety
  • To assist in educating individuals in the familiarity of each individuals neighborhood, address, phone number and emergency numbers
  • To assist in educating individuals in what is considered appropriate conduct
  • To assist in educating individuals in life skills such as hygiene, grooming ,nutrition and manners
  • To assist in encouraging friendship and camaraderie through social activities
  • To assist in accurate record keeping (communication books, safe bathing sheets, behavior tracking etc.)
  • To administer or assist in administering prescribed medication and non-prescribed medication as required, and record this information accurately
  • To assist in monitoring individuals spending, grocery shopping and meal planning 
  • To assist in housekeeping duties and to ensure the home is kept reasonably tidy (dishes, laundry, sweeping and mopping etc.)
  • To be open and receptive to the emotional needs of the individual and provide guidance as required

Proprietor/Support Home Operator

We have an open job position for a Proprietor/Support Home Operator in the Olds area.


Qualifications:

Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and or patience, compassion, understanding and willingness to provide unbiased care while being flexible, supportive and nurturing. 


The purpose of a proprietorship is to offer people with developmental and/or physical disabilities the benefit of living in a family home as opposed to a group home. The two differ in the respect that proprietors are expected to treat the individuals as members of the family and include them in any and all family activities that the individual desires and that they would find meaningful and fulfilling. The role of proprietor is wide spread. You are there for emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual support which is all dependent on the needs of the individual living in your home. You must respect the individuals rights and responsibilities. Individuals are expected to be engaged in the community they are living in. Community access is not limited to their community access staff. Community access is simply a resource but is not intended to limit the activities the individual is involved in. Respite and weekend homes for your individual will be arranged if that option is available, but, not all individuals have supports for community access, employment supports or respite.



Responsibilities of the Proprietor are as follows:

  • To uphold the individuals rights and responsibilities 
  • To be a responsible role model in hygiene, dress, social etiquette, speech actions and all areas of life
  • To complete any and all behavioral monitoring, and Incident Reports as required and requested
  • To assist in scheduling or and transportation to and from appointments as needed
  • To assist individuals in and around their homes and communities in activities of their liking and to encourage pleasing behavior, attitudes and positive reinforcement
  • To be supporting and helpful by assisting  and covering in any area that it may be required and to give input when asked
  • To ensure risk is managed, maintained and mitigated for both the individual and the staff member and that changes are made that pose too high a risk
  • To assist in personal grooming, hygiene, nutrition and manners as necessary
  • To encourage friendship, and camaraderie through social activities such as dances and sports
  • To encourage development of life skills (cooking, cleaning, budgeting etc.)




Training Requirements: We provide on the job training for the following courses: CPR/First Aid, Positive Behavior Supports, CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention), Trauma Informed Care, Abuse Prevention Response Protocol, Medication Administration, OHS FOIP, Boundaries, Safe Bathing and other disability specific training

 
 

Other Requirements

We require all staff members to complete a vulnerable sector check upon hiring, vulnerable sector checks must also be completed for all others that reside in the household that are 16 years of age and older. As well we require you to hold a current valid class 5 drivers license and carry 2 million in liability insurance. We also require you to provide a 5 year drivers abstract. Proprietors are also required to provide a current copy of their home insurance.
